Furniture Design & Construction

“I want to be able to work a piece of wood into an object that contributes something beautiful and useful to everyday life.” — Sam Maloof

Over the last 15 years I have found woodworking to be one of my favorite pastimes and hobbies, and I am excited to be able to use my skills to design and build custom furniture pieces for others. I have invested in a custom woodworking shop at my property, and love when I get a chance to work with local materials such as wood I have felled and milled on my property in Normandy Park, WA. Learning every step of furniture making, from milling to the finished product gives me a sense of purpose with my designs and projects.

I am available for furniture designs, custom furniture pieces, and hoping to sell completed pieces in the future. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions.

Alaskan Sawmill

In 2017 we bought a Mid Century Modern fixer upper in Normandy Park, WA. In 25 minutes we can be in downtown Seattle, yet on this wild property we found 1.5 acres of woods split by a salmon spawning creek, which I set about remodeling and bringing back to its original state. The property had been neglected for 20 plus years, and one of the issues we addressed early on was removing nearly 30 trees from the property that were diseased and fall risks to the home.

Suddenly I was gifted the opportunity not only to build a woodshop for my hobby on our property, but to also learn the art of “Alaskan sawmilling”. Using a chainsaw I transformed felled trees into raw slabs I could dry and then use eventually in projects. Over the last couple years we have cured nearly 50 slabs, which I now enjoy using to build with for various projects well as in custom furniture pieces.

I would love the opportunity to work with clients interested in sustainable, local forestry to create custom pieces using this extremely special material I’ve curated.
